Bayt al-Maḥār (The Gathering House) is a transient pavilion conceived by artist Megan Cope as a space for collective memory, ecological dialogue, and public gathering across Abu Dhabi’s coastal landscape.
Commissioned as part of a Guggenheim Abu Dhabi program, the structure reimagines the nomadic tent through a contemporary lens — combining tensile fabric, steel mast systems, modular ballast foundations, and a multifunctional makhazin (service core) integrating water, lighting, and off-grid power.
Bayt al-Maḥār stands as a study in lightweight civic infrastructure: portable, performative, and rooted in cultural symbolism.
