Art Jameel, in partnership with The Saudi Architecture and Design Commission, presented Accommodations at Hayy Jameel, Jeddah. Touring from the Saudi Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the exhibition featured architects Hussam
Dakkak, Basmah Kaki, and Hessa AlBader of Studio Bound and explored the history of shelters through archival materials, urban plans, architectural models, and sketches. The exhibition examined how built environments adapt to shifting social conditions, focusing on quarantine as a spatial and temporal measure during events like pandemics and pilgrimages. It highlighted the transformation of public and private spaces to enable refuge, recovery, and reconfiguration in times of crisis.
